What is a Family Nature Club?

Family Nature Club is a term popularized by Last Child in the Woods author Richard Louv. It is in essence a place to meet other families and engage in all sorts of outdoor activities together to foster a sense of wonder and respect for nature in our children from a young age.  We started this Roscoe, NY chapter in 2023 to organize meetups that include but are not limited to: hiking, field journaling, plant identification walks, farm visits, camping, cooking outdoors, and unstructured nature play.

We welcome families of all ethnicities, gender identities, and socio-economic backgrounds, and we’re committed to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion.

We are a young New York family celebrating a lifelong love of nature. We are inspired by the innumerable benefits of raising children with more time outside than on screens and started this Nature Club to meet other like-minded and curious families in our local Catskills community. We hope to see you soon!
